About Thyme @ No.4
Welcome to a delightful Bed and Breakfast homestay, located in Carterton, Wairarapa. Your hosts Garry and Maggie are waiting to welcome you!
If you’re looking for a relaxed and friendly retreat in a rural setting, somewhere you can take a deep breath and unwind following a day out exploring the Tararua Ranges or the boutique wineries of the Wairarapa – then Thyme @ No.4 is the B&B for you.
We offer 2 bedroom accommodation with a private lounge, on the edges of Carterton. Our peaceful setting gives you an outlook over paddocks, with lots of birdlife. You can listen for the Tui and Bellbird song and watch the lambs in the paddock next door. Our crystal-clear night sky delivers an awesome view of the Milky Way.
Breakfast is included and other meals are available, with gluten-free options a speciality.
Chill out after your journey, enjoy a homemade cake in the lounge, with a pot of tea or coffee & plan your stay using our books and maps.
Garry & Maggie
We’re your hosts Garry and Maggie, seen here with Whiskey (our wise Golden Labrador) and Brandy (our mischievous Staffie-Greyhound cross) – all part of the team at Thyme @ No 4 who want your stay to be a memorable one.
Our home was built in 2013. We have a young, relaxing garden for you to enjoy. As we continue to plant out our orchard and veggie gardens, we are able to share the fruits of our labours with our guests. We already have guests returning and following our progress.
We welcome visitors from across New Zealand and all over the world. We cater principally for those who would like to experience quiet New Zealand country life, but still want quality accommodation with great food and company. You can leave the stresses of the cities behind and be well looked after. We have off-road parking that can accommodate campervans if you want a night off the road.
We enjoy artistic activities. Maggie is a quilter and also paints; Garry loves cooking many different cuisines. We’re happy to arrange activities for your stay if you have an interest you would like to indulge. Our good friend and neighbour is a qualified Pilates instructor and has her own gym next door if you feel the need for some exercise!
The Wairarapa is a well-kept secret, but those in the know love its rural peace, tramping in the Tararuas, remote beaches, fly fishing, boutique wineries, olive groves and many more delights.
